Where should I start if I do not know which kind of community to look for?
Start with the practical differences: the housing you want, the support a community offers and the costs you need to understand. Independent living, assisted living and memory care describe different arrangements, and the details vary by community. Our comparison guide explains the main options and gives you questions to ask. You do not need to choose a category before browsing.
What does it cost to use GlenOak?
GlenOak's guidance is available at no cost to families. After a successful placement, a community may pay placement compensation under its arrangement with GlenOak and a local placement partner. A partner should explain any separate optional service fee before you agree to that service.
Are the prices on the website actual community quotes?
Check the label beside the amount. GlenOak distinguishes published prices from modeled planning estimates and regional benchmarks. An estimate helps you start a budget; it does not confirm what a particular apartment or level of support will cost. Ask the community for a dated written quote that separates housing, support, one-time charges and optional services.
Does Medicare pay for assisted living or memory care?
Medicare generally does not pay for long-term custodial care or the room-and-board charge at an assisted living or memory care community. It may cover eligible medical services and some skilled care when its conditions are met. Separate those services from the community bill, and check your coverage before counting on a payment.
Where can I find help paying for care?
Start with the state where the person will live. Medicaid services and eligibility vary by state, and the type of setting matters. An existing long-term care insurance policy may also cover eligible services under its own terms. Our state guides point to official offices and free counseling resources so you can find out which questions apply to your situation.
Can I ask about one particular community?
Yes. Start from that community's profile so the request keeps its name attached. You can ask about that option first and decide separately whether you want to consider alternatives. Where advisor help is available, a local advisor can help with questions that require current information from the community.
Does a listing mean there is an opening?
No. A listed community may have a waitlist, and the rooms or services shown may not be available now. Confirm the room, support offered, total cost and likely move-in timing directly with the community. A listed capacity is not a count of available rooms.
Are all listed communities GlenOak partners?
No. A listing provides information about a community; it does not establish a referral agreement, an endorsement or participation in the $500 move-in support program. You can use public community contact details to contact a community directly.
How does the $500 toward a move work?
The offer applies to a qualifying move arranged through GlenOak. An eligibility inquiry lets us explain the conditions for your situation; sending it does not mean you have qualified. Read the program details before making plans around the payment.
What happens if I ask for advisor help?
We’ll follow up to help with your next step. By submitting a request, you permit GlenOak to call, text or email about it and send your contact details to one local advisor for call or email follow-up. A different advisor business requires new permission. Asking for help does not commit you to a move.
